Pick your routes based on household age, income, education and more. EDDM is a great way to target specific areas if your prospects reside within a specific area.
Keep in mind, Direct Marketing is typically more expensive in terms of Reach efficiency (per thousand) than other means. However, Direct Marketing allows you to greatly target your customer, typically far more targeted than what can be achieved through many media options.
